teardown...what am I overlooking

I dropped my motor, with transmission in place, last week, with little problem. I'm using one of those engine/transmission adaptors on my floor jack. Now that both are out, I can't get the transmission to separate from the engine.

I unbolted all four nuts...completely removed the starter as well. I can wiggle it, and can see that it's loose all around, but it just won't come out.

What am I overlooking?

The engine is a '78 3.0, with 915 transmission...just the standard stuff.

Thanks.

Dan Crockett

Remove the helper spring and lever to release the shift fork.

Thank you Charlie...
I spaced that completely. After I removed the levers, the transmission slid right off. Now I've got my motor up on the stand, and I'm good to go. A good reminder to remember small details.
