Gapping Aftermarket Rings
I hope to be putting my new JE pistons on my new motor this weekend if everything goes well but I'm a little worried about gapping the rings. How difficult/finicky is this and how did you take some material off the rings to create the right end gap?

Many D-I-Y'ers would just use a small mill file.
But because I do quite a few m/c engines needing rings, I bought a dedicated ring grinder....  It has a little vise with a grinding wheel. You just crank it up. Does a nice job. Made in Sweden by Tebst, found at a local auto parts store.

What is the process for measuring a ring gap?

what you do put the ring in the cylinder that it's meant to go in straighten it with the piston and measure the gap with a feeler guage. take some material off the end, repeat until proper gap is obtained.
At least this is how I interperted it
