Do I get a prize?
I am going to be a champ and assembling the bottom end by the time I get done with my rebuild.
I have to tear it down...again! if you recall, the last time I posted I had assembeled my bottom end and forgot to install the oil pump seals. well...I got it all cleaned up and put back together this weekend. it was beautiful. then I started to torque the perimeter nuts. as I worked my way around the case I got to one of the long studs on the side of the nose bearing. just before I got to the torque setting the stud pulled! so...it's coming back apart this week and going off to have the threads repaired. I dont know how much more "assemblus interuptus" I can take!

Al,
I feel your pain. Mine was three times out to get it all right. And we are not mentioning the new gaskets that failed for unknown reasons or the ones that failed because both my *@#$&@ clicker style torque wrench was reading way too wrong. Have T-Bar and electronic torque wrenches now. Clickers are in the landfill.

Thank you for making me feel better. Mine just leaks out the nose bearing. I have to pull it apart and find out why but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one rebuilding a rebuild.

I have not researched your posts, but I sincerely hope it is not the nose bearing!! I replaced everything around there I could without tearing apart the halves. I'll do that next winter in the new garage.

It was definitely the nose bearing, and from the outside. General thought is that loctite got bunch up in there and caused a gap. Could be a bad bearing as well. I'm going to be good (like the rest of of the posters) and tearing down and rebuilding after this.

Alan,
I'm in the same boat but I'll just heilcoil it without pulling it all apart again. I don't think it'll be that big of a deal.
