98mm has arrived

Hi all,

Well my 98mm barrels and pistons have arrived!! Now all I am waiting for is my 79 SC motor to arrive, can't wait.

Here are a few pics of one of the Mahle (Max Moritz) pistons.

Alan,
Can you post a picture of the top of the cylinder. I just purchased some 98 mm Mahle cylinders and they were cut for some type of seal ring. Do yours have this o-ring groove also?

Vic

Hi Vic,

I will take a picture but I am sure the tops of the cylinders are flat, i.e no sealing ring.

Give me a day or 2 and I will take some more pics.

Can't wait to build this motor now.

Thanks,
Mine have a sealing ring cut into the flat sealing surface. I do not know you did the machine work and I'm having a difficult time finding the rings.

ID = 4.045 in or 102.743 mm
depth = .074 in or 1.880 mm
width = .084 in or 2.134 mm
OD = 4.213 in or 107.010 mm

I think I told you in your original post Victor, Protomotive make/sell the aluminium rings for this setup. I think the process is called Ni-Resist, or "flame ringing".

See www.protomotive.com
