Thermostat question
Browsing through the parts site, looking for the stuff I need for my rebuild.
Let's see - Thermostat for 65-71, Part # A-107-751-00 Yikes! $241.75 Next line - Thermostat for 72-73, Part # H-107-765-00 A more reasonable $74.45 They look the same, so what's the diff? Especially for triple the price? Why would they change from 2.2 to 2.4 litre motors?

They are not interchangeable. I have replaced the guts of a 65 to 71 thermostat with the part from the external oil cooler of the later cars, but it does take a little machining. I know a number of people who have done this, but do not know of any shops that can do it. I wish I documented this, but I didn't. Maybe I can pull one from a engine, and post a picture if you need.
