3.6 cylinder leakage fix and case mods
What are the modifications necessary to build a leak free 3.6 liter engine, and what are the costs?
What methods can be used to seal both the cylinder/case union and the cylinder/head union? |
HI JC
Some good info here? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=156741&highlight=peter+ dawe |
It's all there, thanks JC!

JC, is this for your Cup car? Ingo had his stock cylinders machined by Walt at CE. The cylinder base gaskets were updated for the 109mm 993RS spiggots, as far as I know the stock 964 o-rings are adequate most of the time. Some builders put a dollop of something like Dow Corning 730 anaerobic sealant for extra insurance.
I see that you are in the market for a replacement aluminum hood as well? |
Yes Bill, I need to start planning for a rebuild. My cylinders are leaking more and more lately.
Also, take a look at this thread. Can you lend some insight there? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-engine-rebuilding-forum/168555-964-engine-rebuild-11-3-1-compression.html |
I'll bet OZ knows;)
and I'll bet Bob will find out. I don't really know as I only ran into the base issue and wasn't as concerned w/ taking the rest of the specs to the limit. PCA wouldn't allow JEs made to the 964 11.3 spec and dome shape? Here's a pic of the bottom of your engine that I took at the Glen http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1087956903.jpg Doesn't look that bad |
