Priming oil system

Hello all,

Is there a way to prime the oil lines and galleys inside a 83 3.0 SC motor. It has been setting for 2 years and I would like to get oil pressure inside the motor prior to starting. Like on a old chevy or ford you could take the distributor out and put a drill on the oil pump shaft and run oil through the motor.

Thanks

Make sure you have removed all baloons or plugs from the oil system. Doubly sure on the oil lines to and from the tank. Take the rotor out of the distributor. Leave dist. cap off. Make sure it has 10 quarts of oil in the tank+new filter. Make sure you have a fully charged battery. Crank the engine with the starter until you see the oil pressure needle register. Mine went to 5 bar. Follow the rest of the procedure in Wayne's book. Check for leaks.

I wound up with a Bounty Mouse in my loop cooler an account of not checking the lines. Thank goodness it was in the circuit to the loop cooler and back to the filter. I had to purge all of the lines. A great lesson.
