Valve Timing on a 3 litre Turbo
Well I've got all my bits back ready to assemble the top end and do the valve timing. My cams are now 964 spec, and the Porsche machine shop where I had the work done recommends I time the cams at 1.68. Now this sounds a lot further advanced than what I've seen recommended on this forum for 964 spec cams. The Porsche mechanic said that because my engine is a 3 litre, to trust him on this spec as it will give me a heap more top end. The rest of the engine spec is K27 hiflo turbo, GHL headers, JE 7.5:1 pistons and EFI. What do you guys think?
Cheers

I'm no expert but if you advance the cam timing the valves open earlier but they also close earlier. I thought advancing the cam timing helped low end and retarded helped the top end?
If your machinist is wrong, it will help your bottom end and that's good too in a Turbo car. -Chris
