Show me your engine stands please

I broke down and bought one of them fancy 911 engine stands with the bracket and mount, but I don't know what I'm going to attach the mount to (the thing that looks like a bearing).
I don't have a work bench heavy enough to bolt it to, I'm thinking of modifying a standard engine stand abd bolt it to that.
Any suggestions or pics will be greatly appreciated. Tanks.

I would just use the base from a universal engine stand unmolested. Most will fit the yolk without issue. I like the kind with two legs so I can jack the engine up to the stand. I'm not sure the advantage of using the vice.

Good luck,

Ditto on what JG said but if you have the vice already, I'd get a plate welded to the top of a normal engine stand (after cutting off the top) and then bolt the "vice" to the plate.

I've got one just like JP's. Got it on ebay for about $40. The Porsche Yolk slipped right in. The vice is not needed.

Got the $40 750lb version from Harbor Freight. The yoke works fine on it

For a one person engine drop and mounting on the stand, do like JP said, buy one with the two legs instead of a "T" leg. This way, your floor jack slides right in between, and you can lift your engine, with yoke attached, onto the stand.

I use this one, P201WR for $149 (halfway down the page). It's just the ring for the stand, not the whole cage. It's awsome because it uses a regular engine stand/mount.

Thanks. I didn't realize the yoke would fit in the hole of a standard stand, that makes life much easier.
