Serious Problems With Extrude Hone!

Hey guys I had my heads and intake ported by Extrude hone a little over a year ago. When I first talked with the owner he informed me of the killer porting packages they had for the Porsche. I was told in stock form my c2 turbo heads would flow 180cfm at 500 lift. With the new porting which took the intakes out to 41mm to match to a 3.2 intake port they would flow 280cfm@ 500 lift and that was with a stock valve job. The price was 900 for the work no disassembly or assembly included. The price was high, but I figured hey if it gets the numbers it would be worth it. They did the port work on the intake and heads. The heads were shipped straight to EBS to get a vavle job etc. Then they were shipped directly to my mechanic. I never saw the heads. Well I tried for 2 months to get flow numbers from them. I must have called 10 times. There was always an excuse or something. Finally I got some numbers sent to me. They were way lower than they should have been! Well I called them at the time and they said well someone must have not ran them enough if you want to send them back we will run them again. Here is the problem Stephen already had them on the motor and in the car. So if I want to to do that it would cost me 3 grand in labor plus parts just so they could do the job correctly. This does not include disassembly or assembly work AGAIN from EBS. So I blew it off. I drove the car for 400 break in miles then we decided to make some serious changes to the motor. I was having the heads flame ringed and told my machinist they may need to do a bit of cleanup on the heads? I told Bill at Extreme heads they were already ported to 41mm and 38 on the exhaust. He looked at them and laughed and said they are STILL STOCK SIZE! I had noticed when I took the intake off that there was an 1/8 inch difference between the heads and intake this was my first clue that the work I payed for was not done. Bill said the heads had been cleaned up and that was it. Maximum of 20-30 thousandths removed! So for the past 2 weeks I have been trying to call them and talk to the owner Ed who originally sold the job to me. Well they keep telling me he is not there and that they will have him call me. I talked with the manager you name it same bs stories. I told the manager straight up about what was going on. I was pissed today and talked with the manager he said he had not finished talking to Ed the owner and things did not look favorable. He was very short with me and gave me nothing solid. So I asked to talk to ed the owner he is of town same bs I was sure. So I had a buddy call with a fake name etc and guess what? Straight through to the owner! Well I called back and told him the case, and how I did not appreciate being lied to and screwed around for weeks when the work I payed for was not done. There is no way I would send anything back to someone who treats customers like this and does not provide the gains they promise! He said what he had to say and then hung up on me! Oh I was mad and called right back and the manager said that nothing else was left to be said and he hung up on me as he laughed! He said oh you talked to ED he is not out of town as he snickered Guys I am at my end on this I just wanted to state the facts and let you see what spending 1500 to have my heads and intake ported got me through extrude hone. I will be happy to answer any questions that anyone has. If someone does not do precision work correctly the first time do not give them a second chance!

Where are they located? I'm not in the market for work but was wondering where they were located. There was a similiar thread about a bad experience and how they were treated from a company out of Arizona.

So, are you taking them to small claims to get your money back?

They are out of california. I do not know what I am going to do yet. I think the truth on the boards is the worst thing for them

hmm...could you sue them? If you have all receipts and few witnesses I guess it will be easier?

Also, It would be good if you could name the shop that did this?

Personally, I do that sort of things myself

The shop is Extrude hone in california. I have no experience with the other branches so I do not know anything about the way they do business. I am compiling flow charts, pics, and specs on the heads so I have every card in the deck. This is sad the way companys handle small time people

extrude hone

I had a similar experience with them a few years back on a CIS manifold I was having ported. It wasn't done right and it cost 50% more than I was originally quoted. I tried everything I could to speak with the owner, but they told me tough *****. Pay us or you won't get your parts back. After I got them back I found out they didn't even perform the work I had VERY clearly requested. I've built another 7-8 engines since and will never use them again. Just my 2 cents.

I had a shop that did inferior work. The wouldn't release the car unless the bill was paid. I paid with a credit card, then contested the charge. Customer satisfaction was the outcome! Its the only real protection you have.

Please send a complaint to the Bureau of Automotive repair in CA. THey just might be able to shut this turkey down. THey are known for stings and very strict enforcement. May not get your money back but it will at least help everyone else.
