Engine Complete!
Here's a few pics of my completed engine. The engine came out last November and its been a long haul to get it done, I never thought it would take so long. When I took it out, the engine was a stock 3.3L except for a Kokeln IC and an MSD iginiton. I got it in the car today but won't be firing up till later this week.
This first pic is what the engine was like when I pulled it out: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1095573077.jpg And what it is now: engine specs: 3.4L 7.5/1, ARP rod bolts and head studs K27 EFI (DTA) Kokeln IC Fabspeed Muffler http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1095572447.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1095572481.jpg |
Very nicely done. congats

Looks great

Nice Job! looks fast!
|
Very nice, I hope my project looks as good. Could you post some pics of the back side? Is that a Fabspeed muffler? Is the aluminum AC compressor bracket stock on an '87?
|
I'll have to look through my pictures and see if I have any from the back. The engine is now in the car so it would be hard to get new ones! What do you want to see in particular?
It is a Fabspeed muffler with a modification to hold an O2 sensor after the turbo. The AC bracket is stock. |
Looks great! Tell us about the EFI?
|
Beautiful! And as thethrill said, can you please elaborate on the mods - its definitely not stock injections & what turbo do you have in there? And what headers are you running - they dont look stock B&B as I thought the wastegate pipe is smaller?
|
The EFI is documented on the 911techforum here is the link:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/158817-cis-efi-930-a.html I intend to update that thread when I find some time. In a nutshell the EFI uses some aluminum CIS blocks (powerhouse) modified to accept efi injectors and a rail made from stock fuel rail. The ECU is a DTA P8, others on this group have had good success with it. Although I haven't turned my key yet! The turbo is a K27-7200 with the stock headers for now. Other mods are SC cams and 3.4L P&C's and a Patrick Lightweight Flywheel. Here is a shot of the rear as requested. I think I took this when trying to figure out how to mount the coils (I used a Bosch VW coil pack). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1095739970.jpg |
Looks great David!

Cool, I was curious how you mounted your ignition and fuel pressure regulator.
What brand of regulator did you use and what type/brand of ignition is that? Where did you put you're BOV? Is the hose with plastic barb above the date the brake vacuum hose? Mine was disconnected by the PO (I wondered why the brakes were so heavy!) and I'm not sure which line it is. What type of paint did you use on the engine cowling and valve covers? Thanks |
The regulator is an Aeromotive A1000-6 (2 6AN inputs one 6AN output) Coils are a Bosch 3pack wastespark coil as used in a VW V6. Crank trigger is similar to the ones sold by clewett. The DTA-ECU controls the spark duration etc.. The BOV is now vented to atmosphere thru a small KN filter. The tube you mentioned is the brake booster.

Very nice job - are you for hire? ha

Way to go! Congrats on your project.

Thanks for the kudos, but if you read my other post "Engine Runs" you will see I am pulling the engine again to track down some oil leaks:(

Yeah, but look how much more you will have learned when you're done! I still think you've done a fantastic job! Looks great!

I just put a 2.4T together and got a leak. It was coming from the left side between the chain housing and the cam housing. So I opened up the left chain housing and removed the chain sprocket on the left cam. Just as I suspected I had not torqued the three bolts that tighten down the round flange for the O-ring gasket between the two parts. Lucky for me an easy fix and now no leaks!!! Good luck. |
Hey, I don't understand that thing the plug wires are attached to. Some kind of distribtor coip pack?
|
Its a VW VR6 coil pack (Volkswagen). The metal part underneath the brown coils is basically an empty box VW used to hold the coils. The engine does not have a distributor any more, it has a crank sensor for timing.
