re-ringing a 2.7. hone or not to hone.

I am rebuilding a 2.7. the compression was good on the old engine, but I am going to rering it anyways. should I rough up the cylinders or leave them as is when I rering it? what do ya'll think...

Nickasil or Alusil P&Cs?

nikasil cylinders.

Others may chime in since this is a somewhat controvercial topic. I believe Henry Schmidt at Supertek recommends that you lightly scuff them up with a scotchbrite pad in soap and water. That's what I did when re-ringing my Nickasils. Seems like the rings seated fine.

Others may say to just leave them alone. My exeperience is very limited, but it seems to have worked for me.

Plenty of food for thought here----
