Since the motor is just about done, I started to pay attention to cleaning up the tranny. I just noticed that the seal around the shaft appears to be leaking a bit, and also couldn't see an easy way of replacing the seal.
Do you have to split the tranny to replace the main seal on an early 915 (circa 1972)? Are there any online reference works on how to work on them? Thanks!

the gears are removed from the case first. the seal goes in from inside the diff housing. a wonderful engineering idea.
