Bad batch of rocker shaft seals?
 

The latest rocker shaft seals I got had some defective ones. Of the 10 ones I used, 4 had tears in them. None of the other 12 from my old stock had any defects. Has anyone else experienced this?

I just installed a set last month and had no problems with them, must be a different batch ;)

Properly installed rocker shafts in undamaged cam tower don't need seals.
I've seen them, we stock them and never seen a need to install them.

Next you'll be telling me I don't need to wear that garlic around my neck while torquing rod bolts. ;)
The seals are a belts and suspenders thing for me...

I used the seals also. It just seemed like easy insurance.

Just put four of 24 in (only got to the cam adjustment) and they were fine. Let you know Thanksgiving if the rest ended up fine.

When it comes to keeping oil in an aircooled engine, I'll use belts, suspenders, bailing wire, and duct tape to keep the slick stuff inside!
