dose anyone recomend lapping the head and cylinder together

if nothing else, it will show whether you have contact all around. that's why i lap all the valves to the seats, after grinding. a high spot on one item will potentially make a mark all the way around on the opposing item, but a high or low spot will always show on one or the other.

how much would you lap ? until you have two heavy lines around the face of the head? would you ever try a sealant between the head and the cylinder?

If you use some layout dye and then some fine lapping compound it will show you any high spots. I dont think you should use lapping to correct large differences but then I refer to JW, the xpert, Oh I really want one of those JW workshop license tag frames I saw someone post?

you shouldn't use it to correct anything, just to ease your mind that there's contact all around.
