I'll be there. Its the only way to make sure youall do it right.

snowman,

Sorry to hear about your poor quality supplier. We run into some of those occasionally as well. It's aggravating.
Of course, thanks for reminding me that beauty is more than skin deep and I should be writing a few more detailed specs and measurements in my rebuild logbook.

Henry,
Thanks for posting the specs on my heads. I had planned to email you to see if you still had any of that information, but you answered before I got around to asking the question. Thanks again for your fairness and attention to detail, even on a budget effort like my current project. Maybe I should apologize for showing your budget work(even though it's plenty good for me) without asking first or also showing a set of heads you have done with the "works".

Everyone else,
Thanks for the comments. I love this board. Now I need to get busy to finish it up.

Rob

Hmm, in a rare twist, I sortof agree with snowman - does look a tad bit tacky after such a good job...

Let's see, blue stuff ? A thin coat of Dykem blue. Looks tacky? I knew there was a reason I should get out of this business. Where's Dr. Kevorkian when you need him?

WAYNE, AS TACKY AS OUR WORK IS, IT WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE COVER OF YOUR BOOK

The bigger irony is that while snowman attacks the thread with his "good looks don't matter, it's the specs that matter" comment, he then goes on to say that the "blue stuff looks takcy". If Henry is doing a job to a budget, and most of that budget is used to return a botched job to serviceable, I would be able to live with a splash of blue stuff.

Isnt' the "blue stuff" an indication that things were done properly (or at least checked)? I thought it was used in the machining process to check that the surfaces are perfectly mated. Leaving it there isn't tacky, so much as the calling card of quality control.

Burned at the stake!

WOW,

Way too much time on a COMPLETELY insignificant issue!!!
Sounds to me like Henry had to work some magic with the heads and was asked to do so on budget.

Big deal that the Dykem was left on the head. I'm pretty sure that after about 1 minute of running, the Dykem will be gone and never seen again.

Hey, I've got a better idea, take some carb cleaner and wipe it off then we can all get back to blasting MM!

Pearls before swine, Henry. Don't let it get to you.
