Piston replacement
My recently purchased 1968 911T 2.0 is in the local (French) Porsche garage having a complete inspection. The mechanic has advised that one of the pistons needs replacing but is having difficulties sourcing a manufacturer (apparantly this is no longer available from Porsche).
Can you advise a manufacturer who makes this component? Or, if it's possible to instead use a good condition used Piston (and just replace just the faulty one, not the whole set)? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Yes, you can replace a single piston, however, if one is worn out or has seen damage, then the others are not likely to be in spec either.
These engines, while not necessarily high performance (only rated at 110 HP by Porsche) really do seem to last forever. There should be plenty of used T pistons that will suit your purpose - check the classifieds... Almost the same engine as the 914-6 too, if that helps... -Wayne
