I'm have problems removing the 5mm rocker arm hex screw and nut

Before I do anything dumb, can someone please give me some advice on how to proceed. I have already removed all my other rockers except one, fortunately it's on the end and not in the middle. The barrel nut is facing outward, I believe the 5mm hex bolt may be rounded slightly so it won't grab very well. I soaked it well in break-free on both sides hoping this will help to loosen it up. Advice please! Thanks for your time and help.

Best Regards,

Alex

When in doubt, stop and put pride aside and ask!

The bolt is probably toast anyway if it isalready rounded so you can try and tap/jam a 12point in it. I had a few that needed this method and a third that I drilled out. New bolts are cheap!

Thank you Majic930, I'll give it a try.

cheap allen wrenches are soft, and round out easily. i use a hazet 5mm 1/4"drive allen socket and ratchet for decent leverage. be sure the allen socket is completely seated. tap it in to be sure. you can only loosen the rocker bolt by the 5mm end.

Sounds like the same one I ended up having to drill out.

Got it! Thank you Gentlemen

Thank you all for your advice and tips, I successfully removed the last nut. It took a long extension and a good Craftsman 5mm hex that I gently tapped in and slowly broke it free.

Best Regards,

Alex
