Clutch alignment tool...

I was looking in my trusty 'Bentley' manual about how to get a new clutch plate fitted. Question is...do I really need to buy the alignment tool for this proceedure or is it possible to get the dimentions off someone (ie one of you lot) and make one up on the lathe? Cheers..

Hard to make on a lathe because it has splines to fit the clutch. They are only a few dollars from Pelican.

Here in the US at least, they are available from the local autoparts store as a special order for less than $10, probably closer to $5.

You can easily make it in a lathe out of wood, The spline inner is about 19mm (3/4"), the beaing is about 15mm, I'd get so 3/4" dowel and turn one end down to 15mm, Its not super critical. You may feel a bit foolish in you local DIY store with a clutch plate asking "excuse me do you have a piece of dowel to fit this?"
