3.3 turbo into a 1988 3.2 G50 carrera

Hi,

I have the offer of a 3.3 turbo engine, and just wondered if it is a major job putting it into the 3.2.

Anyone who has done this or has knowledge of doing it would be geatly appreciated

Thanks

Steve

i converted my '87 cab like that several years ago. you need to install the entire CIS fuel system in place of the DME stuff, and some wiring changes for the ignition and fuel pumps. the flywheel and clutch from the 3.2 is used on the 930 engine. the smog pump belt will not clear the shock crossmember without moving the engine back a bit, so i deleted that stuff. luckily i had the entire wrecked '87 930 for parts.

Hi John,
This is a bit off topic, but why does it sound like it is easier to put a 3.3l turbo engine in a chassis that has a G50 transmission than putting a G50 tranny in a 930 transmissioned chassis?
I understand the hydraulic issues and did not factor those in.

no clearance issues, no axle/cv size problems, you don't have to shorten the bellhousing, and you don't have to install all the hydraulic stuff.
