Cylinder Identification
Can someone tell me if these markings identify the type of cylinder?(Nik/Alus)

I'm no expert, but I learned recently that if you take a magnet and place it on the inside wall of the cylinder it will either attach or not. If it attaches or shows that it is magnetic it is likely to be Nik. Others with more experience can tell you more details. I hope it helps.

3.3 turbo and should be nick.
3.0 turbo? Does any other cylinders have no fins on the intake side? |
Wow. I've never seen anything like that. A cylinder with no fins.
The only markings I see is the number 5 painted on. The other markings are for the cylinder head which indicate that it was made in Dec. of 77' so most likely for a 78' motor. |
Looks like a 3.3 turbo to me, there's a pic in BA's book showing these cylinders. They only have fins on the bottom, not the top.
I'd be suprised if they're alusil, but the only definitive way (that I know of) to know is if you pull the heads and use a magnet. |
thanks everyone.... I pulled them.. they're Nik, Mahle... it is a 3.3 tubo no fins on the top. I need to replace one, does anybody have a good one?
Thanks again KM |
