Been there, done that. Documented my stupidity for humanity.

My error was not getting the case halfs pulled down and torqued quickly. When I pulled the case halfs apart, you could see where the loctite began setting up and didn't squeeze out. I'll never make that mistake again. I'll make others I'm sure, just not that one.

Thanks for all your help.

I was thinking about testing the seal before the assembly got too far along.......perhaps you could pressurize the case through the breather to a low pressure (say 1-2 psi) and measure, using a soap solution, any leakage through the seal?

PS, just ordered a new set of gaskets and other consumables ready for this weekend's rebuild.

like i was saying. i'm sure many more have had this problem with 574. i don't think i was working too slow on the one i had a problem with either.

so is 574 faster drying than Dow 730, I was under the impression the dow 730 was the quickest drying, it is what I used. Seemed to go ok, but I had many hands and we moved pretty quickly. Of is it more a matter of how it is applied, the Dow 730 you just put down a bead, and that is it, looks like with some of the others you need to roll it one which I am guessing takes more time.
