Starter issue or starter wiring problem

I have a 1987 930 that is basically a race car.

All of the stock wiring has been removed from it. It does have a 14 pin connector wired from the front of the car to the engine compartment with 3 pins wired : 1) pin #1 for starter, 2) pin #3 and pin #11 (which are for oil pressure and alternator positive, but I can't remember which is which).

Anyway, I bought the chassis from a gentleman, and it had an engine/tranny in it. When I bought the chassis he simply removed his engine/tranny, and I installed my engine/tranny this weekend.

Last night I tried to start the car, (BTW the car does not have an ignition switch, but a pushbutton) . when I press the button, and I can hear the starter click hard once, but it doesn't turn the engine over.

I have searched the board but haven't found anyone quite describe this issue, so I figured I'd post the question.

Where should I start?

Here is my main question:
1. The large terminal on the starter with the 13mm nut on it - I assume that should be wired straight to the battery?

2. I also assume that the large starter wire that comes in on in #1 of the 14 pin connector is basically the 2 wires that connect to the pins on either side of the 13mm terminal?

If not, can someone explain to me how the wiring should be to the starter. I found a diagram here on Pelican, but its not a complete diagram so it didn't answer my question completely.

Any ideas are appreciated. I don't think this is a starter issue, I think its just a wiring issue. or a grounding issue???

Thanks,

Brian
