Porsche Crest Head Strud problem

Hello,
I was on Head stud #7 in the torque sequence on the 2nd bank of heads when this stud would not torque up. The studs/washers/nuts are ARP. The nut would just keep turning and not reach torque spec. I marked the stud head with a sharpie and it was not turning. I marked the nut with some white-out and it was turning.
At this point it was determinied that the threads were pulling and the top end was removed and I atrtempted to withdtrawl the stud with a snap-on stud removal tool. I am having to put about 60-70 pounds of torque to rmove the arp stud. I stopeed after a turn or two to regroup. I need some tips on how to avoid destroying the case during the stud removal process. The studs were installed without locktight. Most of them can be removed with finger pressure only. It feels like I have a bunch of aluminum "balled up" on the stud threads.

Les

It's an aluminum turbo block (from previous thread).

Sounds like they got cross-threaded, which is common with aluminum. Try going in and out with the stud until you get it out - there's not too much other way. Also spray some lubricant down in there (WD-40 is okay).
