Cam sprocket removal help
I am tearing down my engine and am at the point in Wayne's book where I remove the cam sprockets. They are on tight and I do not want to do anything stupid. I removed the the bolt and have pulled and pulled. Is there any thing I can do to relieve the tension of the timing chain? Maybe get a lever and compress the tensioner? The dowel pin cam right out using the tip of a sparkplug.
Thanks for any help.

If the bolts are out and the dowel pin is out the sprockets should come off easily or at least turn on the cams easily. Do you have the chain tensioners removed?

Afterburn,
I have the newer cam design which does not use the crows foot. The bolt is removed. Andy, I do not have the chain tensioners out. The do not seem to budge either. Do the pulleys on the tensioners just slide off? thanks

It will help to take the tension off the timing chains. Use a c-clamp or similar to compress the tensioners and gently prise then down with something like a scredriver wrapped in a bit of tape. This shold allow you to get off the tensioners and sprockets.
