Rings.. Deves, Goetze..
I'm having a ring crisis here.. the Goetze (sp) rings I got are the wrong ones. The middle compression ring is a 2mm instead of the proper 1.5mm. Unfortunately the only supplier that makes the correct rings for the 67S pistons are Deves (which I ordered here yesterday) but they have that funky oil ring.. any experinece with those?
Anyway, I'm thinking of using the Goetze oil ring in conjunction with the Deves compression rings. Anybody see a problem with this idea? Now I could return the Goetze set ($100) and just use the Deves oil ring if there's nothing wrong with them. But I was thinkng $100 is nothing if the oil ring is indeed superior. Thoughts?! Thanks, Bill

WHAT YOU DO IS INSTALL THE EXPANDER RING FIRST THEN THE OIL CONTROL RING THEN THE SCRAPERS ONE GOES UNDER THE CONTROL RING AND THE OTHER GOES OVER IT ,PUT THE EXPANDER AND CONTROL RING GAPS POINTING AT THE PIN ONE ON ONE SIDE ONE ON THE OTHER, THEN STAGER THE SCRAPERS POINTING UP LIKE ONE AT 10:30 AND AT2:00.NOW PUT ON COMPRESSION RINGS MAKE SURE YOU CHECK FOR MARKS SO YOU PUT ON POINTING UP THEN STAGER RING GAPS BELOW THE PIN LIKE 8:00 and4:00 .
