Turn engine over without engine mount... bad idea?

I'm trying to locate an oil leak in the back of the engine. Last week, without removing the engine mount, muffler etc, I assumed I just made a mistake when rebuilding the engine. After looking at the area in question behind the crank pulley, that area is dry. No oil residue. The intermediate shaft cover is another story. It is soaking in oil, particularly seeping from the studs. I know oil flows down due to gravity... haha, so I really wanna make sure exactly where the leak is. IF I douse the area in talcum powder and turn the engine over a bit perhaps the leak will reveal itself.
My question is should I reconnect the engine mount to do this? Without the engine mount connected I can readly see the areas of concern.
As always any help will be appreciated!!!

You can put a jack or tower to suppor the engine, then you remove the engine mount bracket.
