Heads for a 2.0
Is it possible to use 2.2-2.7 heads on a 2.0 motor in order to have larger valves without having to find 2.0S heads.
If so is any machining work required and what is the effect on the C.R ? Robert |
You can get T heads and have them machined (not the most economical though)

I assume you mean 2.0 T heads machined for larger valves. Will the later heads not work with 80mm P/C's?

I meant 2.0 T's. I assume the later heads will not fit but I have no positive info.

Thats great - thanks for the link.

Supertec Performance has a conversion that will allow you to run 2.2m 4.2 and 2.7 heads on a 2.0 cylinder.
The cost is $220 per set of six. This conversion was designed to return 2.0 "S" heads to 2.0 specs after they were converted (cut to fit) 2.2- 2.7 cylinders. This conversion has been race tested by to of the fastest vintage racers on the west coast and we have seen no collateral problems. Five years testing with no failures. |
Thanks Henry
Will be contacting you for a set once I am ready to start assembling. Robert |

I have access to a set of '69S heads that were cut to accomodate 2.7 P/Cs and my '69S has '67S heads that I want to replace with the real thing. These seem to be my ticket (I don't want 2.2 heads, BTW). On a side note, does this conversion make the 'S' heads race legal again or is it like cutting a second plug hole (even if you don't use it, the heads are illegal). I really appreciate any info; this has me quite excited. Your response will pretty much decide if I make an offer on the heads or not. Thanks again. |
