dynamo (alternator) 2.4 0r 2.7 in 3.0 engine?
Hi
does the dynamo of a 2.4 or 2.7 engine fits in a 3.0? probably I have to fit the fan as well, but this will influence the revs? thanks! Last edited by bs911; 10-26-2005 at 03:36 AM.. |

You may have to use a crank pulley off of the 2.4/2.7 to get the belt to fit and turn the fan at the correct speed. Otherwise I don't see any problem.

Funny, I had to look this one up.
Dynamo = alternator. -Wayne

The alternator from a 2.4/2.7 will not fit the 3.0 alternator/ fan ring. They have a different depth. I have seen people fab up a spacer to make up the difference, but why?
Remember that the early 3.0 (78-79) have the smaller fan as used on race engines. If you have one of these fans, you can change the center pulley and crank pulley the slow the fan and reduce hp loss.
