I had the same problem once, turned out to be a poor connection at the fuse. I ran a jumper from one side of the pump fuse and the pump worked - other side of fuse nada....

That is the way your fuel pump circuit works; there is nothing wrong with your system. For safety reasons the fuel pump should only run while the starter is engaged or while the key is in the on (or run) position and the air flow meter plate is up (air is flowing or being inducted into the engine - meaning it is running). HOLY Crap the fuel pump used to come on whenever the key was in the on poistion engine running or not...it would run till I shut the key off or pulled the relay out ....

I will conjecture the connector to the air flow switch operated by the "brass thingy" (air flow meter plate on it's arm?) had been disconnected. This is sometimes done to help starting problems instead of addressing the actual ploblem (leaking fuel pump check valve or accumulator, malfunctioning WUR, cold start valve, etc.). Perhaps you reconnected or it was merely loose and pulling and reinstalling the engine set it right. Jim Sims

Hey Jim
Thansk for your input Bro!! Ill keep on checking on that air flow meter plate switch.... If I had a bad switch I would guess that with the air flow meter plate all the way down ... (no air) the switch should show continuity accross the terminals and open when the plate is up ( air flowing??

"with the air flow meter plate all the way down ... (no air) the switch should show continuity accross the terminals and open when the plate is up (air flowing??)" Correct. Jim
