Big end or chains/tensioners?

My 85 3.2 carrera makes a horrible noise!! On tickover there is a clanging sound but no misfire it gets worse then better then worse! I haven't driven it as I am not sure what is wrong?

you may have to describe the noise a bit more but could be a tensioner is not tensioning and the chain is making noise...this happened to Jim Bauman when he first fired up his 3.2 after a rebuild. I would suggest pulling the chain housing covers and see what's going on re. tensioners and chains and cam timing....others may respond with more definate instructions this is just a somewhat educated guess on my part.
