Cam timing
Hello, when setting the .1mm rocker clearance on #4, where should the cam dot be facing? up or down?
Thanks, Joe |

Down. The writing on the end of both cams will be upside down when setting the valve clearance for #4.

I think it is safe to set the 0.1mm in all cases with the pad on the rocker as far away as possible from the "nose" of the cam..this means the the "nose" is on the other side of the cam axis from the rocker pad.
Camgrinder....please correct me if I'm wrong but I think there is a long period of "dewel" on the back side of the cam where the clearance/"lift" is constant or I guess we could say the lift is zero. I've always assumed this

Hc you are correct, on most street cams the majority of the base circle is at 0 lift. Some racing cams start to lift the cam on the base circle, so setting the valve lash should be done in the center of the base circle.
