98mm cyl on a 3.0 turbo
can you use the NA cylinders on a 3.0 turbo?
that would make a 3.2L turbo... I understand that you would need lower compression piston's to go with them.... but are the cyl's different? what about the 97mm cylinders?... wait... would you never find pistons that would work with the 70.4mm crank?

Doesn't want/need a 3.6L

Why wouldn't you just use Mahle 98's specifically manufactured for the early 3.0L Turbo?
![]() Andial carries them (or used to at least), their part number is AND 103 958 58 and the rated CR is 7.0:1. Cylinder heights are 85.6mm with a 22mm x 61mm wrist pin. Rings are 1.5/1.5/3.0. No case machining required and a simple chamfer on the heads to match the larger bore is all that is required. Not affiliated with Andial (any more!) but you can reach Pete Sanchez in parts at 714.957.3900 to see if they have a set in stock and...gulp...how much. ![]() Ralph |

I was looking into a cheap pair of 98' that were for NA applications... I just wanted to know this information "They use the exact same cylinder as the 3.0L>3.2L normally aspirated conversion"
thanks

You could always use some custom JEs in some 3.3 turbo cylinders, but again, i'm not a huge fan of the partially finned cylinders the 3.3 had. Do yourself a favor and use some fully finned 3.2 cylinders and just fit them with JEs. EBS has reconditioned sets with JEs that would fit the bill- although not the best solution, it is the cheapest one :-) Nickies come to mind, which are more attractive price wise than the Andial sets, but still significantly more than what EBS has to offer.
