Oil feed pipes

Hi guys my 85 3.2 carrera has a broken rocker caused by oil starvation can you replace/clean out these feed pipes without taking the engine out? Thanks Ian.

If you are referring to the spray tubes which run inside the cam carriers, I don't think so. Don't the chain housings cover the plug at the rear of the engine? The engine tin does at the front, but even if you went to the trouble of removing that and something else (shocks?) doesn't get in the way, working conditions would be atrocious. Much simpler to pull the engine. You have to drill and tap the plug so you can use a puller (a socket, a washer, and a longish bolt and nut will do) to get it out. Remove the two bolts on top of the cam carrier (one of them is also part of the oil line from the case) and you can pull the tube out to inspect and clean.

An evil thought intrudes, though. What little piece of something plugged just one of those little holes on just one side? Might there be more where that came from, just biding its time? You can ruin a cam in very short order (and flood the engine with metal bits) if just one of the spray tube holes gets plugged. Tough (and expensive) choices may lie ahead.
