Help with engine configuration

Hi,

I need soemhelp here............I have my engine torn down and am looking at the bits in front of me............it does not make much sence. Here is what it is meant to be:

3.0 sc 78
Twin plug
ITB's
EFI
( ex race engine )

The parts that I have found inside are:

3.0sc heads Ported
95mm cyl
rods ( part no 911.103.105 ) 2.7?
crank ( part no 930.102.015.01) 3.2?

The part no on the crank is hard to read but it looks like the 3.2 crank in Bruces book pg 66 (3.3 & 3.2 crank).

Now if this is right the engine is actually a 95/74.4 3.2.

The rod bearings have 930.148.00 stamped on them? What the hell are they?

I am just about to put JE 10.5:1, GE80 bits in but have stopped until I understand what the hell I have got.

Any thoughts/ideas on this config would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Mark..........

Hi Mark,

Measure the journals on the crank. The 3 litre journals are larger
than the ones on the 3.2 crank. Specs should be in Waynes book.
I would suspect the crank and rods are from and SC or 3 litre.

Cheers

Hi Paul,

Waynes book has some strange figures.............

3.0SC has a bigger shaft wear limit than the spec for the shaft itself. ie

Shaft 51.971-51.990
Wear limit 52.9960

3.2 has a bigger bore than shaft ie

bore 52.020-52.059
shaft 54.971-54.990

If someone out there can clarify this I can move forward. I have a shaft of 52.975...........if that is the right phrase!

Also with the Rod.........I need to do another check but the part number appears to be a 2.7 part number. I also appears in the Bruce book in a picture listed 2.7 rod (p.65). I will check the inside big end to confirm size.

Since I have been jerker around with this engine I do not trust anything and am checking as I go.

Cheers

Mark........

Mark, Check Wayne's rebuild book home page. There are some corrections to the crank specs listed there. I think it is www.101projects.com
