Thoughts on a 2.7SS ?
For no good reason, I was thinking today about a 2.7 engine using a short-stroke crank and 93mm Nickies/JEs. I wouldn't be doing this for a very good while, but would it be worth it? Everything besides the 93mm P/C would be 2.2S parts (MFI, heads, ports, cams, crank, etc.). Case would be a 7R probably. I imagine it would basically run and sound like a 2.2S with a little more volume, meat and an extra half liter or torque and hp. What do you guys think?

These are the 2.9L P/Cs, correct (long stroke) on a 66mm crank? Would be a cool motor, but would suffer from the same detractions that the 2.9 does: THIN cylinder walls.

I too think this is not a good idea. The thin cylinder walls are one thing. You also have case machining which leaves little material left to hold onto those very important head studs. Otherwise it sounds like a fun motor. Now, an Aluminum case might be a different story...

Kenik, I have talked to Charles Navarro at LNE, he said since his forgings are way stronger than the Mahle cylinders, you can run even 93.5mm on the street! Sounded valid, anyway. I do have an early Alu case but they are just so much harder to come by than the 7R!
Thanks for the input so far!
