Cool What's best way to clean exhaust heads?

Hey guys, I took off my headers from my 993tt engine(got them ceramic coated). Before I remount them, how do I get all that caked carbon off the mating surface? I tried acetone, Brasso, copper wool........I don't want to use steel wool as it may gauge into the alum heads.....anybody with any tricks? Guess it would be similar to cleaning up the piston tops.

thanks, Jaime

Easy-off oven cleaner. Warm the heads, spray it on and let them sit. No scrubbing necessary.
Good luck.
