Oil Pressure ?
I have been using my 2.4 since the rebuild and I did the Oil Line update while I was there,.. This did boost my pressure but after talking to a very knowledgeable source he suggested that that was really only a "band aid" fix for making the oil pressure look higher but in actuallity not really all that good to do because it doesnt flow as much oil to the cams .
He suggested to either change the spring on the bottom of the engine or add shims to make up for its wear. Which I did when I did my first oil change.. I am wondering if it is Necessary to get rid of the Oil Line update kit since I now have the shims under the spring also creating more pressure. At idle my guage reads about 20 Before I put the shims with the "update" about half that. At 3k about 55-60 and before with just the "update" about 30 I think I may be creating TOO much pressure ?? and I really dont want to put any extra wear on my new cams thats not needed.

You will get strong arguments both ways on this one. In reality it probably will be fine either way. Your oil pressure numbers are not too high. Did you install a post 75 oil pump and do the oil bypass mod to the case? If you did then you should have plenty of pressure without the restrictors. IMO shimming the pressure relief valve will have no effect on idle oil pressure. I haven't heard of problems with cam wear due to the restrictors but there has been more cam wear problems of late attributed to the new oils....

I did not do the Post 75 oil pump and When I said I did the oil line kit what I was referring to are the 2 80's style Banjo fittings that have a smaller hole for the oil to pass through to get to the cams. Let me know if this changes your opinion..

Those fittings are what I called the "restrictors". I don't know what to tell you. Either way should be ok. The engine ran fine for many years in it's stock configuration. It might be safest to just leave it that way.

Do these Restrictors Actually do anything , or do they just give the Appearance on your Oil Pressure guage that they are actually Doing something? Are they any Good?
Tell me more about this post 75 Oil Pump.. What are its advantages?

The later oil pump has a smaller scavenge section and a larger engine supply section. It pumps more oil through the bearings, pistons squirters, and cam spray bars. The physical size of the overall pump is the same but the partition between sections is moved to favor the engine supply section. You have to do a bypass mod to the case so the smaller scavenge section is not overwhelmed with oil from the pressure relief circuit.
The restrictors do exactly as the name implies. The reduce the oil flowing out the cam spray bars. This causes the oil pressure inside the engine to be higher resulting in better pressure at the bearings and squirters. "Good" is a relative term. They are good for the bearings but maybe bad for the cams/rocker arms. I wouldn't worry too much about it since you already built your engine. If it were me I'd remove the restrictors and run the engine as it came from the factory. -Andy
