2.7 stock or 2.8 Question

I'm rebuilding a 76 2.7 from the case savers on up. Question is, I have the Alusil cylinders, can I have them replated so I can go with a higher C/R in a J&E piston setup? This engine is going to be running carbs with the proper cams. Now what about going to a 92mm piston and having the cylinders bored and replated? Is this going to make a difference or am I going to have problems with a thinner cylinder wall? This car is used as a weekend driver with a few D&E and auto-crosses thrown in. Reliability with the 92mm or should I stay with the 90mm. C/R I'm looking for 9.5.1

Thanks

If the cylinders have the groove for the sealing ring, I wouldn't bore them out to 92mm, but rather just have them plated back to the 90mm size and matched to a set of JEs. Otherwise, try to find a set of good used (ones that are in-spec and not worn out) nikasil 90s without the sealing groove and bore them out for the 92s. If you have any concerns with the thin skirts at 92mm, just have the cylinders cryogenically treated, which seems to help keep the skirt more round and from fatiguing and cracking on cast cylinders.

Thanks cnavarro, that sounds good staying with the standard bore.
