Less brakes, more gas!

So I was removing the rockers on the passenger side and one shaft did not want to come out in one direction so I tried the other... I was not malicious in my attempts and all the other shafts came out easily.
the results were: ![]() There is a hairline separation around the edge of the inside circumference in such a way that the end of the shaft where the cap fits is still captured on the end of the shaft. Very interesting failure. Would this happen from over torquing? If I have my rockers rebushed and get a new shaft for this broken one do I also have to recondition the cam and the follower surface on the arms too? I was not planning on reconditioning the cam and rocker surfaces... -michael

Try not, Do or Do not

My guess is over thightened.
Inspect everything, polish the rocker shafts and replace the broken one. That should be all you need. On all engines we rebuild, we polish the shafts, rebush and resurface all rockers . This may be over kill but my name is on every engine and every engine has a warranty.

I would say overtightended or possibly installed improperly in the boss allowing it to expand "unfettered".
