Engine heater, brrr it's winter time [almost no P content]
Hi,
Winter is upon us here in the NE. Every time the temp goes to 'winter mode' I keep thinking how nice it would be to have an engine heater in the commute car while the 911 is cozy in the garage. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with all of the aftermarket solutions. I know these models exist: - Frost plug, works great but you run the risk of leaking coolant if not done correct. - Dipstick, not the best design. They are even illegal in Canada to my knowledge. - In-line heaters, they heat the coolant. Some models runs on gas others are electrical. - Heater pad, electric and is glued to the oil pan. No idea how well these work. Hope one of you guys would have experience. - Auto space heaters, can be used to heat the interior if needed. My Mazda have the frost plug as an accessory, but the install cost is way too expensive. I hope to find another solution. So, I'm hoping some of you engine specialists would be able to comment on the other types listed and hopefully you know some manufactures. I've searched but came up almost empty handed besides from these: HTTP://www.webasto.us Is one, but they run $1800 or so. HTTP://www.engineheaters.com These guys sell the heater pad. Thanks, Michael |
