Using used studs?

Have an oppertunity to acquire a full set of used steel and dilivar studs from a low milage engine. Was thinking of using the steel ones to replace my bottom dilivars on the 3.0 I'm now rebuilding.

What do you all think?

Im a novice, but when I asked this question I was told teh steel ones are good for reuse...in fact, I have a complete set of steel Pelican-purchased studs I didn't replace the old ones with because the ones in the case were clearly steel replacements in good shape.

Buy new ones just to replace the Dilivar. Some people can get pretty brutal removing these from the case. They are not that expensive and if it were me, I'd buy new. Maybe JohnJL would take an offer for his.

You can measure the length of the steel studs and they should be all the same length; if one is longer than the others, it's more than likely over-stretched/heated. I would most definately replace the Dilivar studs.

the steel ones are not too spendy and do a vital job there.........do you feel lucky??

used is fine as long as they were removed with a good stud puller that didn't damage the threads. the 3 roller style stud pullers kill threads, and visegrips do serious damage to threads and shanks too.
