Funky rockers

It seems that a new product has reached our shores that purports to be "OE" Porsche rockers.
They are not and in fact are a prime example of the challenges of sourcing high quality parts for air-cooled Porsche projects.
The give away is the bulky nature of the product. It seems that the material is incompatible with Porsche cams hence, rapid wear and eventual cam and rocker failure.

So much crap out there, I wonder how many 911’s out there for sale have inferior parts. It looks like the same people that built those rockers built my horn grills.

Marginal quality reproductions are the main reason we restore so many parts.
I would much rather spend my time building engines but installing an inferior "new" part defeats the whole "restoration" ethos.

Fans, throttle bodies, carburetors and rockers are some main culprits.

A little more research shows these rockers for sale by Stoddard and Pelican as genuine Porsche replacement parts.

They can be pretty easily identified by the area the adjuster screws in. This area is flat on the aftermarket and concave on the factory units. The are also heavier. I posted some pictures and weights in the thread below.

Rockers and other thoughts

None of the rockers you posted in your thread appear to be the rocker in question.

We just got a weight on these things at 161 grams.......just crazy

Jeez, that's adding a lot of weight to the valve train. Ugh. Almost twice the weight of the Pauter rockers.
