The vast majority of it aligned. Gerry uses the Down Corning case sealant for example and not the locktite. I don't think Gerry is as "clean-room" paranoid as Wayne. That takes lots of time and they are running a business after all. But I think he gets it clean enough.

Cheers,

Mike

Sorry for making this old thread a zombie, but does anybody know if Bruce and Jerry still offer this course? The website with the class schedule hasn't been updated since 2009.

I just talked to Bruce a few weeks ago...they are planning to offer it this year but have not scheduled a time yet. He is quite primitive on his technology, so he best answer was not "I will mail you" or "please subscribe here" but "keep checking the web site.." LOL!

When I did the course I had LOTS of fun, it was a blast.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Mike, good news. I'm planning to rebuild my engine next winter so if they have the class later this year it will be perfect timing. I'll keep checking the web site.

class

Hello,
Does anyone have a recommendation for a class I can take on rebuilding a 911 engine? I am interested in power improvements, and am dreaming of rebuilding an engine to achieve more hp. I'm interested in the older cars.

I did find Bruce Anderson's site, but have not received a response to my inquiries from Bruce.

Bruce is quite ill and unlikely to return your email, and I think Gerry is not doing them for the present time - not sure if they will resume.

You can phone Gerry Woods at his shop and ask.

Cheers,

Mike

Mike,

Since you have a 993 engine, did you (or someone else) ask about why in the pre-3.6L engines Porsche used no adhesives on the bearing saddles, but on the 3.6 they did?

I know that Wayne and a lot of folks are proponents of putting loctite 574 on the saddles of the pre-3.6L engines, but I had heard that Jerry and Bruce are not. Just wondering what comments they might have made.

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear about Bruce. I have not met him, but I wish him well.
Regards,

Tom
