how do i get heads/cam off oil tubes???
Sorry for the dumb question, but i'm removing the cam housing and heads as a single unit, but the dang oil return tubes are holding on like crazy so I can't slide the heads off.
Does everyone just crush and remove these even when rebuilding, or is there a trick / worth it to saving them? Could I torch them to melt/loosen the o-rings? (964 3.6L) Thanks!!! |
Just use leverage to force them off..
Do not hit them with anything! Kind regards David |
Gently tapping on the cam housing with a soft rubber face mallett will work also. Work around the perimeter....

Set of 4 new ones are available for well under $50 from our sponsor. I crushed mine with a pair of pliers and wiggled them loose.

I was able to gently pry them off while someone else pulled on them with their hands. Thanks a lot for all the suggestions! I'm also happy to report that I can still see all the cross-hatching in the cylinders (yay).
