Broken carb parts...??
So, while rebuilding this engine, I knew the carbs were stuck. I've had them soaking in gas for a few days, and I went to open the valves and the first set popped right open. Nice and smooth. Went to the other side, and guess I twisted too much and it finally popped, but only one of the carbs opened....
![]() I assume this part won't be in the zenith rebuild kits... any advice or help? What part am I actually looking for?? Thanks all, Bill (learning fast...!) ![]() ![]() |

Zenith Parts
They are shown in the Workshop Manual and are simply referred to as couplings.
they are designed to take up parallel and radial misalignment between the shafts. A virtually idential part is used on the Weber 40IDA3C and on the Weber parts list tthey as described as a linkage. |

Bill,
Those parts will not be in your kit. They are flex-couplers and getting to be unobtanium. Let me look in my garage stash. I was in there the other day, looking for parts for a local and was surprised at the amount of Zenith parts I've accumulated. Al

They should be readily available in the aftermarket. You just need to know shaft size and overall length.

Bill,
I checked and I have two. PM me your address and I'll get one out to you. Regards, al PS: It's still mounted on the carb...i'll soak it in penetrating oil, overnight...so that i don't break it, while removing it.

Hey Al! PM sent. Thanks so much.
I had the carbs soaking in gas for about a week. Since the other side freed right up, I assumed this side has as well. Didn't take much to break it! ![]() Thanks again. Lemme know what I owe you! Bill |

Still can't get these last two carbs opened!! Grrrrr!
The valves are actually completely "glued" to the walls of the carb. No solvents have worked yet. Hate to "force" them open.... |
