Loctite 5900 head sealing?

Local Porsche dealership is out of 574 but says the black "Loctite 5900" is just as good, though it takes 2 weeks to cure (no problem here)

I couldn't find any posts here, anyone know/use it?

Here's the MSDS/tech sheet from Loctite.com...it reads OK...

I'd look into the DOW Corning stuff (731 or 730 if I recall). Do a search on case sealing and you'll find the viable alternatives. 2 weeks seems too long IMHO... Makes me wonder...

I know it's a pain to order from Cali when you're an Aussie, but there must be a better way... Perhaps you can find a local VW aircooled rebuilder?

Try Threebond 1104 aka grey "Yamabond". Ask around at motorcycle/ATV shops, esp 2 cycle ones. Supertec, Porsche Motorsports and Andial all use 1104 for case sealing.

Did you say...."Loctite 5900 head sealing?" You weren't planning to apply sealer to the head surfaces were you?

Dave, sorry no this is for the camtower-to-head seal where 574 is usually used.

Pelican's have available the Locktite 574.
