What are these deposits in my exhaust ports?
I'm in the process of cleaning up my 2.4 CIS heads before I offer them for sale. I found this whitish deposit in one of the exhaust ports. I scraped most of it away and bead blasted the rest. It cleaned up nicely. Anyone have any ideas on what it was?

What condition were the pistons in? Any signs of detonation? They look like flecks of metal to me based on the pictures. If they are, then the question is what did they come off of? But then these are just some SWAGS on my part.

The piston tops were pristine. A quick look over the cylinders showed nothing unusual. The material did not appear to have metallic content and crumbled easily when I scraped it with a small screwdriver.
