Tough time with a new oil crossover pipe

I'm having a tough time getting the new oil scavenge discharge hard line to fit on my Turbo 3.0. My car is a 77 Turbo 3.0, which had the orginal thermal reactor set up. I'm changing to a stock exhaust from an '86 Turbo, with an '83 muffler. As far as I can tell, I need to change the oil hard line from the kind that goes under the front of the engine, as in pre-74 N.A. cars, to the kind that goes back and across, much like the ones you'll see on post-74 cars, though the part no. (930-107-741-11) is specific to the Turbo. I bought this part from Pelican. Problem is, the one I got hits the left side heat exchanger and it doesn't leave room for the later style turbo oil sump, which I got with the exhaust.

So, do I just bend the new pipe thing till everything fits? It's not easy to bend, by the way. Can anyone say whether it makes a difference whether I put in the turbo oil sump before the oil line?

I wish I could offer better advice...my car is an '87 and I have B&B headers which come with a different turbo sump/drip tank as well as a braided scavenge line...so here's a bump for ya. GOOD LUCK!

Tom,

I am interested in your dilemma as I am in the process of the same exercise on my 77.

I would search for some photos of the 3.3 or SC oil lines and see if you can determine exactly what the differences are... I just remembered that Bruce Anderson book shows the photos of a motor converted to the later exhaust.

Is the turbo sump bent or damaged?

you need the one that goes back behind the muffler, but it's a turbo only pipe that has a different bend in it to clear the turbo sump. check the one for a '86.

This is what I thought I bought from Pelican. Can anyone put up a photo of a stock, post-86 installation, please? Many thanks, to all.

Does anyone have a good used line that is known to fit in this application, which would be willing to sell?

notice the straight line between the engine mount and forward under the chain area. that clears the sump. off my '87 930 engine.

Thank you, John. I think that I ordered the right part no., but what I received is different - it does not slant as far towards the engine center as yours, so there's not enough room for the turbo sump. The line I received is the same as an old line that I have from an '83 SC engine. This supersedes to the Turbo part on PET, but clearly they're different.

Here's a photo. By the way, the tag has the Turbo part no. on it.

The oil line you need is unique to the turbo.
Remember that just because a part has a 930 number it is not necessarily a turbo part.
