Leaky 2.0 1969 E Motor
My motor is leaking between the two block halves and forward on the right hand bank head to block.
Can we just shoot some new Locktite sealant between the two block halves or does the engine have to come apart? I suspect the head has to come off to fix that. Thanks Dom

Dom,
"shooting new loctite" won't do you any good. Depending on how bad the leak is the engine either needs to come apart ($$$$) or you need to learn to live with the leak. Cheers, Ingo

There's always stop-leak oil additive.

Guys,
Oil leaks are too big to use a stop leak. I will live with the leaks. Ciao Dom

Hello, Dom.
If the leak is really between the halves, it is worth checking the studs are not stripped. this is a feasible fix in situ, but of course once a leak starts the case will be bent and may need skimming to correct.. Anothe stud which very often strips is the long one by the Int shaft bearing..there is IIRC a fix for this in situ but only Crispin Manners knows how! Kind regards David |
